Quality, Integrity and No AI
Illustrators Australia does our best to check all our membership applications in ensure quality, no artificial intelligence is used in their work and for integrity – members must agree to our T&Cs and Code of Conduct. We trust you to connect respectfully and create a fair contract and honour your agreements.
All members agree to our Code of Conduct and we expect the same of clients.
Illustrators Australia is not responsible for any communication, contracts, information or fulfilment of contracts or agreements by any of our members.
Rates of Pay and Crediting
We recommend you review the ASA Rates of Pay and Commissioning Guidelines before enquiring with an artist. Historically illustrators are notoriously underpaid and under-valued in the industry. We encourage all clients and illustrators to work together to chance this. Please ensure the illustrator you work with is given adequate time, their rights are respects, their name is included (with equal billing) alongside the author, in online catalogues, promotion and on the front (or back cover in the case of novels). It’s alarming how often this is not the case. These are recommendations we would like to see as standard practice.
Most importantly please pay them! (In money, not exposure)

The artists retain their copyright, in accordance with Australian Copyright law.
