Emma Stuart is an Australian author-illustrator and artist with more than 25 years’ experience in children’s publishing and over 250 books illustrated for publishers including Hachette, New Frontier, Brolly Books, Little Steps, ABC, Woodslane Press, Serenity Press and the Enid Blyton Estate.
Her first author-illustrated picture book, Peewii and the Tree, was published in 2024 and featured on ABC’s Back Roads. Her second, Big Mountain, Little Emu, was published by Woodslane Press in 2026.
Her work has received a Literary Titan Book Award, been a finalist in the International Book Awards, and been shortlisted for the Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year Awards.
Emma works primarily with water colours, but also works with acrylics, oils, pen and ink and pencil. Her characters are full of life and bring a real sense of ‘light heartedness’ to the reader. Emma can work in a large range of genre’s and styles, from highly detailed realism to simple character based illustration. As well as illustration, Emma also exhibits landscape works regularly through Jacob Hoerner Galleries,Melbourne.
